Who We Are

Multiversity, LLC (“Multiversity,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the website multiversitybooks.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit the Site.

By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Information We Collect

1. Information you provide to us

When you interact with the Site, you may choose to provide us with

  • Your name
  • Email address
  • Anything you write in a message to us

This happens when you sign up for our email newsletter or send us a message through the contact form. Newsletter signups are handled by Mailchimp, our email service provider, and use double opt-in, which means you are not added to the list until you confirm your subscription by email. Contact form submissions are stored in the Site’s database and delivered to our business email so we can reply to you.

2. Information collected automatically

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information through Google Analytics and similar tools, including

  • IP address
  • Browser type and version
  • Device type and operating system
  • Pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent on the Site
  • Referring page or source (for example, the site or link that brought you here)

This information is generally collected in aggregated form and does not identify you personally, but some jurisdictions may consider it personal data.

Our hosting provider, SiteGround, also keeps standard server logs for security and troubleshooting. These logs include IP addresses and are managed under SiteGround’s own retention practices.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for purposes such as

  • Operating, maintaining, and improving the Site
  • Understanding how visitors use the Site
  • Monitoring performance and troubleshooting issues
  • Managing our email newsletter, including sending updates and announcements if you have subscribed
  • Responding to inquiries you send us

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

Legal Bases For Processing (For Visitors In The EEA/UK)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases

  • Your consent, when you sign up for the newsletter
  • Our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site, understanding how it is used, and responding to messages you send us

You may withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing from our emails or contacting us.

How We Share Information

We may share information with

  • Service providers who assist us in operating the Site. These currently include Mailchimp (email newsletters), Google (analytics), and SiteGround (web hosting).
  • Professional advisors, such as legal or accounting professionals, if reasonably necessary
  • Government authorities or other third parties when required by law, regulation, or legal process, or to protect our rights or the rights of others

These third parties are only given access to the information needed to perform services on our behalf and are expected to protect it appropriately.

Cookies And Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to help operate the Site and understand how it is used. We do not use advertising cookies.

Google Analytics

The Site uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as how often users visit the Site, which pages they visit, and what other sites they used prior to visiting. Google uses this data to track and examine site usage and to prepare reports. Google explains its handling of this data in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on to prevent your data from being used by Google Analytics on any site.

Embedded Content From Other Websites

Some pages on the Site include content embedded from other services, such as YouTube videos. Embedded content behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website directly. That service may collect data about you, use its own cookies, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content, all under its own privacy policy rather than ours. Videos on the Site are hosted by YouTube and covered by Google’s privacy policy.

Affiliate Links

Some book listings on the Site link to outside retailers, currently Bookshop.org for ebooks and Libro.fm for audiobooks, through affiliate programs. If you make a purchase after following one of these links, we earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Once you leave the Site, the privacy policy of the site you land on applies. We receive aggregate sales reporting from these programs, not your personal details.

Newsletter And Marketing Emails

If you sign up for our newsletter, we will use your email address to send you updates and related content. Each email will include an unsubscribe link so you can stop receiving these messages at any time.

Our email service provider, Mailchimp, also keeps a record of which emails you open and which links you click so we can better understand what content is useful to subscribers. Mailchimp’s handling of subscriber data is described in its privacy statement.

Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as it is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. For example

  • Newsletter information is retained while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward for recordkeeping purposes.
  • Contact form messages are kept while we handle your inquiry and for our records afterward. You can ask us to delete them at any time.
  • Analytics data is retained according to our settings in Google Analytics and Google’s own retention policies.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your information, subject to legal obligations
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent, where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in the “Contact Us” section below. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time by using the link at the bottom of any email we send.

Children’s Privacy

The Site is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

International Visitors

The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers are located, which may have different data protection laws than where you live.

Changes To This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after any changes are posted will constitute your acceptance of those changes.
