Hi, I’m Daniel, and I’ve been in love with science fiction and fantasy since I was six years old.
I grew up on the stuff, with Super Friends on TV, Star Wars at the movies, and plenty of comic books. Even Sesame Street is technically fantasy when you think about it! When I was ten or eleven, I insisted on going with my mom to the mall whenever she went so that I could hang out in the science fiction & fantasy section at Waldenbooks. I felt at home in a bookstore, and that feeling never really left me. After I earned my English degree in 2020, I knew I wanted to channel my lifelong passion into something meaningful. It took a little more time than I wanted (thanks, cancer), but here we are! Forty years since those days at the mall, I’m building a bookstore where readers, gamers, and collectors will find that same sense of comfort and belonging.
Multiversity is opening in League City, Texas, in fall 2026 as Southeast Houston’s independent bookstore dedicated to science fiction and fantasy, serving up new & used books, comics, games, and collectibles. We’re filling a gap in our community, creating a place where genre fans don’t have to settle for a few shelves tucked in the back corner of that bookstore over by Baybrook Mall. You know which one I mean.
What We’re Doing
Multiversity isn’t just another bookstore. I’ve spent the past year running market booths selling books, comics, and games—testing the concept, learning the business, and connecting with the local community. The response has been tremendous, and we’re using that feedback to create a space for people who love exploring new worlds through novels, graphic novels, tabletop games, or trading card games. You’ll find classic science fiction and fantasy, indie comics, used books with character, and games that bring people together around a table. We’ll host author signings, game nights, and other events that bring the community together.
We’re curating a selection that goes beyond the latest bestsellers. The store’s product mix favors books at 65-70%, with the remaining space dedicated to comics, games, and collectibles. We’re focused on depth, not breadth. We’ll carry what genre fans actually want, not what a corporate buyer in New York thinks we should stock.
This isn’t just a dream anymore. Multiversity is a registered LLC with all the legal and operational infrastructure in place. I’m a member of the American Booksellers Association and attended the Winter Institute conference in February 2026 to learn from established booksellers and build relationships. I’m working with an SBDC advisor, I’ve completed professional bookseller training, and I’ve established connections with distributors who will help keep our shelves stocked. I’ve been actively scouting commercial spaces around the League City, Webster, and Clear Lake areas, and I’m getting closer to finding the right home.
In March 2026, as part of our broader financing strategy, we launched a Kickstarter campaign to demonstrate community support and help get Multiversity off the ground. Early supporters got a chance to be part of the journey and score some great benefits.
With financing in place, the plan is to open our doors in fall 2026. I can’t wait to welcome you to Multiversity and help you find your next great adventure.
